Experience an unforgettable kayaking tour along Cape Town’s breath taking Atlantic coastline. During the trip, you’ll paddle along the stunning coastline â with Signal Hill, Lion’s Head, and Table Mountain always in view. The scenery is breath taking, making it a truly wonderful experience. With a bit of luck, you might encounter dolphins, seals, penguins, and even whales or sunfish. There will be plenty of breaks to enjoy the incredible surroundings and take photos.
The guided tours depart from the V&A Waterfront and are suitable for all fitness levels. No prior experience is necessary. Qualified kayaking guides will accompany you on the approximately 90-minute tour, of which you’ll spend about 60 minutes on the water.
The stable sit-on-top kayaks are ideal for guests of all experience levels. Children aged 8 and up can participate when accompanied by an adult. Please note that the maximum weight limit per person is 110 kg (240 lbs). Solo travellers will be grouped with other participants. Maximum 2 people per kayak.
Tours depart at 7:45 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. (start times may vary slightly between summer and winter). You will meet your English-speaking guide 20 minutes before the tour begins at the V&A Waterfront office. Together, you will walk to the starting point (approximately 10 minutes). There, you will receive a safety briefing and get fitted with life jackets, ready for your adventure. After the tour, you will return to the Waterfront or your ship on your own.
The meeting point at the office is about a 15-minute walk from the terminal. This allows you plenty of time to stroll along the Waterfront before or after your tour.
Please note that you may get wet during the kayak tour (the seat will most likely get wet), so we recommend bringing a change of clothes. Restrooms are available at the start and end points of the tour, so you can change if needed. Please bring sunscreen, a small towel, and a windbreaker, depending on the weather. Your backpack/bag can be securely locked away during the tour.
The meeting point for the excursion at the V&A Waterfront is here: (Shop No. 8, Quay 5; Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Wtj4GfZ6JuLvc76q7)
After the kayak tour, you will need to make your own way back to the V&A Waterfront or the terminal from the starting and ending point. It’s approximately a 25-minute walk from the waterfront to the terminal, but the route is very scenic along the V&A Waterfront, and you can enjoy some leisurely strolls afterward.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Please let us know your preferred start time (for a higher chance of spotting dolphins, we recommend the two early start times).
