Discover the traditions and culture of East London in a unique way. Emerald Vale is nestled in the heart of the Jikeleza Route, known as the “Gateway to the Wild Coast,” which boasts vast, unspoiled natural landscapes. The local community is paramount: handcrafted art and souvenirs, traditional crafts, the local school choir, and world-class cuisine make this a truly special experience – Emerald Vale is so much more than just a brewery.

Petra and Hans originally hail from Germany and Austria. Understandably, they fell in love with South Africa and, together with their South African partner Chris, fulfilled their dream: to combine their love for the country, local traditions, brewing expertise, and typical dishes into an unforgettable experience.

Artists and craftspeople showcase their skills, and you can even become part of it yourself by trying your hand at basket weaving or creating traditional beaded figures.

A true highlight is a visit from the local school choir, whose melodic rhythms and dances will captivate you and create truly moving moments. Emerald Vale is a popular destination for day trips. Hiking and biking trails amidst unspoiled nature invite exploration. A short hike to the dam on a marked nature trail (1.1 km) offers magnificent views of the surrounding area.

Those who wish can join a 4×4 vehicle tour to a stunning viewpoint. The vegetable garden is not only a sight to behold but also provides fresh ingredients for the kitchen, resulting in first-class dishes. Sampling the homemade iced tea, gin on tap, and passionately brewed craft beers completes the experience.

Meeting point around 8:00 AM or immediately after the ship is released.

After approximately a 45-minute transfer, you will reach Emerald Vale. You can try your hand at crafts, create your own souvenir, and admire the scenery during a short hike or drive. The brew master will gladly take you behind the scenes and provide insights into the production of the beers and iced tea. Those who wish can visit the vegetable garden to see what is grown locally. Just make sure you are back when the school choir arrives – traditional songs and dances create truly moving moments.

Of course, typical snacks will be provided.

After these wonderful experiences, the transfer will take you back to the ship around 12:00 PM (arrival approximately 12:45 PM).

This is a wonderful excursion to discover a different side of East London. Emerald Vale was previously chosen as a destination for the former Sternstunde (Star Moment) and has left lasting memories.

Note: Also suitable for families – play equipment and children’s rooms available.

Minimum of 20 participants required, as this event is being held specifically for your arrival.
