An unforgettable adventure awaits you on a guided giraffe trek. Observing Africa’s “animal skyscrapers” up close is a truly special experience. In the 2,500-hectare private game reserve, you’ll embark on an exciting trek on foot. Giraffes are extraordinary creatures – especially when viewed from the ground. In a landscape of grasslands and bushland, surrounded by mountains and valleys, a giraffe walk offers breath taking views and a fascinating array of flora and fauna. This trek in the heart of the Addo Valley bushland provides an intense encounter with nature, full of wonder and discovery.
You’ll explore the reserve in an open safari vehicle, searching for these giants. Once spotted, you’ll disembark and continue on foot, getting incredibly close to the giraffes. You’ll be accompanied by a trail guide who will provide fascinating insights into giraffe behavior and anatomy.
Itinerary:
Pick-up at the port and approximately 1 hour transfer to the private reserve. After a welcome drink, the drive and walk begin (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes total). You will often get within a few meters of these majestic giants, offering fantastic photo opportunities. After this impressive experience, the transfer will take you back to the port.
Note: The giraffes are in their natural habitat and cannot be touched.
Combination: Schotia in the morning and a walk with the giraffes – the giants of the wilderness (possible on Day 1)
Pick-up at 8:00 AM. After the morning Schotia Safari (see description above), you will be transferred to the reception of the private reserve at 2:30 PM (approximately a 30-minute drive).
After a welcome drink, you will embark on the “Giraffe Walk” experience, which ends around 5:15 PM. Enjoy another refreshing drink to round off the day. Your transfer will be waiting to take you back to the port by 6:45 PM.
